"Infectious mononucleosis (mono)" is a virus also known as the "kissing disease."
Just what are the statistics of people with mono actually getting it from kissing? Based on personal experience and observation its a serious misnomer.
I had it as a teen...not from kissing.
2 of my children have had it...not from kissing.
And now, I have it again...and again, not from kissing. (Apparently it can "reactivate" when your immune system is down.)
So are we the oddballs going against statistical norms or is mono just trying to sound more exciting by giving itself a name that makes is actually sound like fun to get??
